Lolab valley also known as the “Wadi-e-Lolab” is situated around 120 kilometers from Srinagar in Sogam, district Kupwara. Formed by the flow of Lohwal river, Lolab valley is home to many ancient springs covered with thick forests of pines and firs. The valley is known for its fruit orchards, lakes, springs, and lush green paddy fields. Referred to as the “Land of love and beauty”, the valley is 5 kms wide and 26 kms long. It is a combination of 3 valleys: Potnai valley, Brunai valley and Kalaroos valley and consists of beautiful Nagmarg meadows separating Lolab from Bandipora district.
Lolab valley is home to many Himalayan animals like black bear, brown bear, Snow Leopard, Ibex, Musk Deer, Hangul and others. The valley is well connected to Srinagar by road. There are few tourist huts and many camping sites presenting a good opportunity to trekkers to explore the region. Chandigham, encircled by lush green pines, deodars and majestic peaks, is unmatched in its scenic beauty.
