About 42 kilometers from Srinagar, Dodhpather or Doodhpathri is a gorgeous place with carpet like pastures and a stream with calm river passing by the pines and the conifers encircling the valley. Also known as the “Valley of Milk”, Dodhpather is a bow-shaped valley situated in Budgam district. The place got its name due to the cattle grazing in the green meadows producing rick milk in huge quantity, hence the valley of milk. Dodhpather is one among those beautiful tourist destinations which remained unexplored for a long time until it came to attention of travelers recently. The region resembles with the mesmerizing meadows of Gulmarg.
Dodhpather has little population and the villages surrounding it are generally inhabited by shepherds. The place offers a beautiful countryside with a number of villages on the way. The scenery presents with an English literature landscape with small hamlets. The weather is calm and soothing.
